NSW to axe Quarantine from November 1, 2021

NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet in a press conference on Friday 15 October, 2021, announced that from November 1, travellers arriving into Sydney, who are fully-vaccinated, will not be required to quarantine at all, in hotel or home.

The decision follows the reopening of NSW on Monday 11th October as the state hit the critical 80% full vaccination rate which has coincided with a "dramatic drop" in the number of covid cases in NSW.

The decision to axe NSW Quarantine was made following a meeting between Premier Perrottet and Prime Minister Scott Morrison.

Health experts have long advocated for more liberal policy surrounding vaccination and quarantine, stating that this will help increase tourist numbers into the country.

The decision opens up the opportunity for Australians stranded overseas due to quarantine to return home. But critics have warned that this is a risky decision, and more needs to be done regarding visitation from countries with high rates of covid cases overseas.
